Fall Soccer - 2008

2008

We've tried almost every sport there is with the kids and what seems to have stuck with all the kiddos is...soccer.  Every fall, spring and some winter (indoor soccer) seasons we enroll four kids in SOCCER.   Practices 2-3 times each week and games 1-2 times each week keeps me in the car and the kids pretty busy during this season, but, we like it.
Gabby likes to set a goal before each game as to how many goals she is going to kick.  He high is 6!  She has the cutest little jump skip kick thing she does before kicking the ball - we just love it.  When she puts her mind to it, watch out because she will plow you down if you get in her way.

Bella of course is our sweet, patient, gentle and motherly daughter until she hits the soccer field.  She transforms into this aggressive girl with the blonde pony tail that has no problem taking what is rightfully HERS...the ball.  She does this in a loving way of course...

McKinnon was voted MVP this year on her team...even though she won't talk about it.  She doesn't really want the attention, she just wants to play great soccer.  McKinnon was so lucky this year to be on her BEST friend Mallory's team.  What a great season!

Chandler is our late bloomer in Soccer.  He always played football and baseball and due to scheduling you can't have it all!  Last year Chandler decided to use his speed and agility and play soccer.  He played on a league with kids whose ages ranged from 11-14... He, of course, was the youngest on the team, but, wow...did he hold his own.  He quickly became one of the more valuable players on the team.  He carries many of the skills he learned in football to the soccer field...as a result, he uses his whole body when he plays soccer (not sure if this is a good thing because he gets his share of injuries from this full contact playing...and he gets his share of fouls).
We certainly love our soccer in this household...I  love a nice 75 degree Saturday afternoon sitting on the sidelines in my comfy chair with my diet coke in the drink holder soaking in the sunshine and watching a good game of soccer.  I love that there is a beginning, middle, and end of the game...TIMED!  and I love that my kids love the game...I only wish we could do something about the weather on those days it's much, much colder than 75!
