One beautiful November day we gathered up the kiddos, put on our ‘walkin’ shoes and headed out to Red Rocks Park. Around Colorado there are so many things to do and places to go... we want to try to get "out" and “do” as much as we can while we live here.
We had been to Red Rocks once before when we first lived in Colorado…about 14 years ago we took my Brother Kenyon , his wife Holly and their son Josh site seeing while there were visiting. We loved it then so we really wanted to take the kids to see this natural wonder (geology lesson: Red Rocks is a geologically formed, open-air Amphitheatre that is not duplicated anywhere in the world…this amphitheater provides acoustic perfection for any performance – I hope someday we can attend a concert there).
We spent lots of time hiking around inside the amphitheater and playing on the stage. The place was actually pretty crowded. A hard-core exercise class was taking place in the bleacher areas, people were running the bleachers and others were sitting around chatting just enjoying the scenery and beautiful sunshine on their faces.
After running in and around the Amphitheater we took advantange of one of the hiking trials. We selected a three mile hike around the area that takes you by a few 300 foot monoliths (Ship Rock and Creation Rock).
After the hike we were amazed at the beauty of this area, however, we were certainly glad to see the car, climb back , relax in the seats and head for home.
