Running the Arkansas River

June 2009
Our friends the Christensens invited us to a join large group of adventure seekers down the Arkansas River (about 2.5 hours from home). It had been a while since our last river trip, so, we were more than ready for another! The morning trip consisted of a good warm up run down mostly class II and III rapids. Then lunch for a starving crowd...
The afternoon run was the infamous class IV and V rapids called "The Numbers". Each major set of rapids has it own number starting with 1 and ending with 7. We were ready to get our adrenaline pumping and start rowing! The weather temperature dropped as the sun went behind the clouds which made the water look even more dangerous... But, we were game and we certainly were not disappointed with the rapids! These steep, technical, narrow and rocky rapids took us through this beautiful canyon here in Colorado!

We made it! AND, we loved it!!!
We can't wait to take the kids on our next rafting trip...this summer! (I think we may skip the class IV and V's with the kids until they are a little older!)
We love all the things we can do in Colorado.
